We're There for You and Your Child

In our work, we put great focus on one thing - the welfare and education of your child. In order to properly encourage your child's personal and academic development, our professional educators follow a unique pedagogic approach that combines academic excellence with a free-spirited and playful atmosphere for learning.

Our teachers regularly participate in educational seminars and always bring new ideas and input to their daily tasks. These ideas are passed on to your child in playful exercises and prepared lesson plans.

Lori Langel

Hi, I’m Ms. Lori.

I am the Owner/Director of The Kids Corner, CV Inc. For eleven years I operated an in-home daycare in Coal Valley. During this time I realized the need for a preschool and childcare center in the Coal Valley area. While running my home daycare I attended night classes at Black Hawk College and eventually received my Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education in the spring of 2000. After months of renovations and hard work, my family and I opened The Kids Corner in December of 2003. I continue to learn new ideas and strategies by participating in professional development workshops.

My husband Dale and I have lived in Coal Valley for 27 years. We have two daughters, Kimber and Katie who can be found helping out in the classrooms at various times throughout the year. In my free time I enjoy biking, kayaking and camping with my friends and family.

I value the time and hard work that the other teachers have put into this job. Without their dedication this business would not be where it is today. Being able to meet so many great children and families has been a great pleasure of mine. I fully enjoy being a part of each and every one of these children’s lives.

Ms. Darcy

Hi, I’m Ms. Darcy.

I graduated from Moline High School in 1983. After graduation I went to Black Hawk College to study Early Childhood Education.

In 1992, after the birth of my first child, I decided to take time off work and follow my heart by choosing to stay home with my son. After eleven years I eventually went back to work full-time as a Pre-K teacher at the YMCA in Moline.

In 2008, I started at The Kids Corner working in the four year old classroom. I enjoy the endless hugs from the children and having the opportunity to see them grow throughout the year.

Ms. Dixie

     Hi, I'm Ms. Dixie

After graduating from Sherrard High School in 1986, I attended Blackhawk Community College.  I received my associate's degree in Early Childhood Education.  After getting married and raising three children through toddler years, I began working for the Moline School District.  I spent 11 years working as a paraprofessional with children with autism. I then began helping out with my family business, Henschen Manufacturing Company, Inc.  I realized how much I missed working with children and found that The Kids Corner would be the perfect opportunity for me.

My three children have all graduated from Moline High School.  I am the proud grandmother to a loving little boy and little girl.  In my free time I enjoy camping, reading, and spending time with family.  I am excited to be around children again to help them learn and grow!

Miss Carolyn

     Hi, I'm Miss Carolyn

I graduated from Rock Island High School in 2005.  Then I attended Aurora University and received my B.A. in Elementary Education.  During that time I realized that I really enjoyed working with younger kids.  I worked at Kinder Care Learning Center in Davenport for almost a year with the three year olds and with the infants.  I was offered a position as a nanny for a family and worked with them for three years.  With most of their children in school, it was time for me to find something else.  I was fortunate enough to hear about The Kids Corner and I really enjoy working with all the kids.

I live with my parents and our personality plus Australian Shephard Molly.  I have lived in Rock Island my whole life and I enjoy being part of the Rock Island Booster club.  In my free time, I play with my dog, scrapbook, and work part time at Michaels in Davenport.
